My Scan Tool is asking me for NASTF Credentials
You might be visiting today because your scan tool is asking you for a VSP ID and Passcode.
This means you are performing a security related transaction with an OE or aftermarket tool that the automaker requires security credential validation to complete.
NASTF, ETI and Automakers have created a program to prevent auto and diagnostic tool theft. By requiring professional locksmiths to login and validate a key or immobilizer related service we aim to curtail the often violent and destructive theft of technicians tools as well as make the tools inert when not in the hands of a registered user. This is the law enforcement supported method of performing security operations.
This does not mean that all technicians will have to have credentials to service vehicles. It is only if you perform security related repairs.
